Measure the desk and movement area
Record the desk-edge thickness, usable clamp depth and base footprint. Decide where the light should come from and check whether the arm can move without hitting a screen, shelf or wall. A clamp saves surface space but needs a compatible edge. A freestanding base needs room and a stable surface.
Check the bulb and local variant
Check the socket, supported maximum wattage and whether a bulb is included in the actual listing. Our IKEA references describe regional specifications. Socket and electrical details may differ from the Thai item. Match the model code, plug and local seller’s information before ordering.
Consider light and placement together
Decide whether the lamp is for reading, screen work or ambience, then choose a bulb and position for that task. Arrange the angle to avoid screen reflections and direct glare. Check whether the switch and cable are convenient from your seat. We have not measured these lamps’ illuminance or light distribution.
Check assembly and return conditions
Read the included-parts list and assembly steps before buying. Check whether extra tools are needed and how easily you can move the lamp. On a marketplace, confirm that the price is for the whole lamp rather than a spare part. Budget for the bulb and delivery, and read the return terms if the size or mount does not fit your desk.
